Privacy policy
World Wallet keeps your payment records on your phone. The developer doesn't collect, receive or store any of your data. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising.
This policy covers the World Wallet app ("World Wallet: Spending Globe" on the App Store) for iPhone, and the Android version once it's released. The app is made by Nitzan Selwyn.
What the developer collects
Nothing. World Wallet has no backend and makes no network requests with your data. It contains no analytics, crash reporting or advertising SDKs. There is no World Wallet account and no sync service. I can't see your payments, and I can't recover them for you.
What the app stores on your phone
The app keeps these in a local database inside its own app storage:
- payments, with their amounts, currencies, merchants, dates, cards you labeled, and notes;
- categories, budgets, your base city, language and other settings;
- the raw text of each captured payment, which the app needs to read the payment or to show it for review;
- captures the app couldn't recognize, which wait in the review queue until you resolve or dismiss them.
iPhone payment capture
On iPhone, you can create a Shortcuts "Transaction" automation that runs the app's "Log Payment" action after you pay. The automation passes the amount, the merchant and, if you map it, the card name to the action. The action saves that text to the app's shared App Group storage on the phone, and the app imports it when it next opens. You create and control the automation in Shortcuts, and you can turn it off or delete it there at any time. The app can't tell whether an automation exists.
Android notification access
The Android version will use notification access to capture payments. If you grant it, Android lets the app's notification listener receive notifications from every app on the phone. World Wallet ignores everything except Google Wallet, and stores the text of matching payment notifications on the phone only. Notifications from other apps aren't saved. You can revoke access at any time in Android settings. Google Wallet doesn't always post a usable notification for every payment, so you may need to add some payments by hand.
Exports and backups
The app creates a CSV export or a JSON backup only when you ask for one. It then opens the system share sheet, and the destination you pick (for example Files, Mail or a cloud drive) keeps its own copy under its own terms. A JSON backup can include the raw capture text. You can restore a backup from a file you choose on the device; restoring replaces the data currently in the app.
Your phone's own backups, such as iCloud Backup, may include the app's data if you have them turned on. Those are run by Apple or Google, not by World Wallet.
Your choices
- Edit or delete any payment, and dismiss items in the review queue.
- Turn off or delete the Shortcuts automation, or revoke Android notification access.
- Delete the app to remove all of its data from the phone. Copies in device or cloud backups, and files you exported or shared, stay where they are until you delete them there.
Children
World Wallet isn't directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If the app's handling of data changes, I'll update this page and its effective date before the new version is released. If a change ever means data leaves your phone, the app will tell you before it happens.
